My Summer Essentials

Summer has officially begun in London. And in traditional English style, we had no warning and everyone complained it was a little too hot. It seems like summer is sticking around in London, so I thought I would let you know some of my absolute summer essentials.

This is a no brainer. Once the sun comes out, it is essential to wear sunscreen. I go for the highest factor (usually the children’s bottle) so that I am completely protected from the sun. My skin is very sensitive and I have had no problems with this Nivea cream, and the smell just takes me back to my childhood, so that is an added bonus. There is a misconception that if you wear sunscreen that you won’t tan. But I have deepened quite considerably in the few days I have been out in the sun, with very minimal burning. So definitely make sure you have a bottle this summer, to prevent sunburn and protect your skin.

Now, this little gem of a product is called the Scrubee and it’s from Lush. It did look like a bee originally, but I just can’t stop using it! The Scrubee combines both exfoliation and moisterisation in one little bar. You can scrub away all of the gunk and dead skin that we all pick up from being out in the sun, while nourishing your skin. Also, if you love the smell of the Honey Washed the Kids soap, you will love this!

Keeping with the body care theme, this body butter from The Body Shop is one of the most luxurious creams I have ever used. It smells like Pina Coladas (for all my fellow cocktail friends) and it is rich and thick, without feeling heavy or sticky. The Body Shop body butters can be a little pricey, but it’s best to wait and catch them when they’re on sale, or part of a deal!

As well as protecting your skin, you should also be protecting your eyes this summer, and sunglasses are a brilliant way of being fashionable and responsible at the same time. There are so many styles out there that you can be sure to find the one that suits your style.

DUPE ALERT! This Rose Gold blush from Sleek is a dead ringer for Nars’ Orgasm blush. It is a coral blush. But unlike other coral blushes, it has the most beautiful golden glitters in it, that add so much glow to the face. This shade is kind on the wallet and also beautiful on any skin tone!

To go with the glowy blush, I have been obsessed with this Barry M dazzle dust in Apollo. It leaves such an amazing glow on the skin, and if you want a little extra pop, wet your brush for a real angelic look. This little glass jar has lasted me months and I have barely made a dent! At such an affordable price, under £5, it is hard to pass this one up!

Along with your skin, your hair can become damaged in the sun. So I use this oil from Nuxe to nourish both my skin and my hair after I have been out in the sun all day. It leaves my hair soft and my colour vibrant, nourishing it without weighing it down.

Along with suncream and sunnies, a bottle is one of the ultimate essentials. Whether you are a full fitness guru, drinking only water, or like me, like a little squash, it is so important to ensure that you are keeping yourself hydrated. Your skin will thank you, your mood will thank you and you will definitely feel more refreshed in this weather.

So, there we go! There are my summer essentials. There are definitely more that I could mention, but if you only take a few things away from this blog post, please wear your suncream and your sunnies, and keep a bottle of water with you at all times. Although I am no fitness guru, I can tell you that your health should always come before your beauty!

Let me know if you have tried any of these products! Did you love them? Did you hate them?
